Goa over Christmas
I spent three weeks under the watchful eye of Sharath at Purple Valley in Goa. There were three Mysore classes and three counted classes a week. I had a civilised 7am start time and it was great to practice in the warmth of India again with Sharaths energy and to listen to him speak of Guruji in the afternoon conferences.
Whilst in Goa I linked with a couple of charities working with vulnerable children. An amazing organisation that I spent a couple of days with is the Educators Trust in Canca. This is run by a beautiful family who teach slum children out of their own house in addition to educating more of the slum children in their own environment. Their aim is to educate and empower the underpriviliged children in their society through academic and creative education. I am continuing links with the Educators Trust and hope that as an Ashtanga community we can continue to support the valuable work that they are doing in allowing these children to access education that otherwise they would not receive. See the links page for details of their website.
A massive thank you to everyone that bought yoga mat bags recently, those that were made by Jennifer from the orphanage in Assagao in Goa made £138 which I have sent to El Shaddai and I just have one left of the bags whose sales are going to The Educators Trust..quick before it's gone..

108...March 22nd 2010
In Spring 2009, 19 of us did 108 Surya Namaskara in aid of Cancer Research and raised over £800..This year I would like us to raise money to support the work of the Educators Trust in working with slum children in Goa...remember all you have to do is just b..r..e..a..t..h..e!!! There will also be a raffle on the night with kind donations from Sweaty Betty and Yoga Matters, tickets will be on sale soon and this is a great way to join in without doing 108!
The Suffolk Consortium of Ashtanga Yoga Teachers
The consortium is dedicated to offering quality teaching of Ashtanga Yoga throughout Suffolk and is the beginning of building our Ashtanga community across Suffolk. I am working alongside Lisa & Leigh who both teach the method as taught by John & Lucy Scott.
Ipswich Ashtanga
I am working on a new exciting website which will be the main source for news of my Ipswich Ashtanga classes, courses & workshops. Keep checking the site http://www.ipswichashtanga.co.uk as it will give details of classes and events in Ipswich and across Suffolk and will be THE website for Ashtanga Yoga in Ipswich!
